My desire to learn Samoan dance sparked when I watched a performance at the NZ YSA Convention in January this year. I looked at the guys dancing, shook my head in amazement, and thought to myself “damn… I wanna dance like that one day.” Fast forward to April and my dreams were bought to fruition while working at the Polynesian Cultural Center, and although I’m not at the level of skill I witnessed that night at the convention, I know I’m on my way.
