A Winter Storm Watch is in place to the north of Columbus, Ga. with isolated showers expected to continue through early Friday afternoon, and the possibility of snow flurries on Monday and Tuesday.
You’ll likely wake up to rain and a few thunderstorms on Sunday as a cold front races east. Rain may be heavy at times, and a mix of freezing rain can’t be ruled out for some residents north of EBR Parish and southwest Mississippi. Moisture should exit the area in the afternoon, and temperatures will plummet throughout the day.

Major ice storm expected this weekend; impacts could last into next week
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for parts of South Carolina and North Carolina as we prepare for an ice storm this weekend.
Meteorologist Sven Sundgaard has the latest on cold stretch continuing through Friday ahead of a big weekend warmup. That warmer air also sees the potential for a few clippers, the first arriving Sunday, bringing widespread snow to the state. After that, temperatures continue to steadily climb, with a chance to see 40s later next week.
As a large part of the South finds itself in the grips of a historic winter and ice storm, a large part of Florida, including Tallahassee, is bracing for its time in the icebox next week.
